Even though Kim Zolciak has been caught photoshopping pics of her kids, she really cares about their self-image.
That is why she is so horrified that her 17-year-old daughter, Ariana Biermann, has been targeted by fat-shamers.
Kim reveals that, as a result of negative body image issues, Ariana has lost 30 pounds.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Kim Zolciak talks about body imagine and how fat-shaming has harmed her children.
"I do believe that beauty shines from, truly, within," Kim says.
At home, she adds, "we focus on that kind of thing."
"I think it’s a very touchy subject,” Kim admits.
“I’m the same size actually now that I was in high school," she notes. "I’ve always been kind of the same size, but you know, I’m 5-foot-8."
"I’m not -- I was always, like, a size four, sometimes even a six with my boobs," she adds. "So, I can relate to Ariana and her frustration."
"Ariana, now, she’s lost, like, 30 lbs.,” Kim shares, explaining Ariana's recent new look.
“She works out at the gym every day. She’s itty-bitty tiny," she says. "She’s really kind of come into her own."
"But at the time, a lot of her friends are on the smaller side … they’re, like, a size negative-zero, 99 percent of her friends," Kim characterizes.
"So to her, she’s like, ‘I’m fat, and I’m this…’ and it’s just hard, and it’s heartbreaking," Kim laments.
It's frustrating for any parent to watch their child grapple with body image issues.
For the record, here is a photo of Ariana les than one year ago. Still a beautiful young woman, and not "fat" at all.
"People on Instagram, especially, are so f--king rude about it," Kim laments.
She says that it's so bad "that I have to monitor her page constantly because of the nasty comments, ‘You’re fat, you’ve always been fat....’"
Kim is heartbroken that people write "just horrible, mean, mean things."
Even Ariana's weight loss hasn't appeased these absolute monsters.
"Now, they’re saying all she does is photoshop her pictures, ‘cause she’s not that small," Kim reveals. Awful!
"It’s a constant battle," Kim fully admits. "And I always want my girls to love themselves, no matter what size they are."
Of course, she has modified her appearance greatly over the years and built her brand partially upon it.
But she explains that she hopes that her adjustments to her body didn't impact her children negatively.
"When I went in to have my tummy tuck, I went in a size two/four and I came out a size two/four," Kim says.
"I didn’t go in and change my body size and body makeup,” she emphasizes. “I’m very open with them about feeling my best."
"So, I’m very open with my children on that,” Kim affirms.
“I am not open to any plastic surgery on my girls at this time," she clarifies.
She does not consider injectables, such as fillers, to be cosmetic surgery. That's fair.
"I tell them, you know, when you’re done having kids and all that good stuff, worry about all that stuff later on down the road," she says.
"if that’s what you want to do," she concludes. "But you guys are beautiful and so young."
A 17-year-old losing 30 pounds for almost any reason is a little alarming.
Especially because Ariana never looked like she had that much to spare to begin with.
But what's worse is that there are grown-ass adults in this world who think that it's okay to spam an underage girl's Instagram page with such hate.
Body-shaming and fat-shaming are always undeserved and never justified.
But it takes a special kind of sick person to throw that kind of hate at a minor.
